The curtain has opened on the most exciting "Vangelis Alysandratos" Press Championship«

The Press Championship team “Vangelis Alyssandratos” grew by two teams this year, making the 2025–26 season even richer and more exciting. The newspaper DAWN returns autonomously as avgi.gr in the post-COVID era, restoring its own distinct football presence to the institution.

At the same time, his team National Bank Employees Association was re-established after years and is participating in the organization for the first time, adding new interest, prestige and competition to this year's championship.

The small difference in goals in the four games played showed that the gap between the teams has closed significantly — a fact that portends that the football championship of the most authoritative mass media and communication will be unbalanced, unpredictable and intensely competitive this year.

The fifth match between the teams ONE Channel TV and 1VOICE.gr did not take place, as the 1VOICE.gr team rebuilt its roster and declared participation literally at the last minute.

The postponed match will be played on a date to be determined by the Management Committee of the “Vangelis Alyssandratos” Championship”, which is under the under the auspices of the PSAT and is now conducted by SPAE-MME, with president, the totem of sports journalism, Nikos Katsaros.

System for conducting the "Vangelis Alyssandratos" Press Championship«

This year's Press Championship takes on a renewed format with an emphasis on consistency, competitiveness and transparency. The first round includes 9 matches. After Christmas, the groups are divided into two groups of five for the group stage of Cup.

The winners of each group qualify directly for the Cup final. After the four Cup matches, the Championship continues with the second round (other 9 matches), while the following Playoffs with the top eight in the standings in doubles matches (1st–8th, 2nd–7th, 3rd–6th, 4th–5th).

The four teams eliminated from the quarterfinals, along with the last two of the regular season, continue in the League Cup. The League Cup includes three singles matches which are held in parallel with the first round of the Championship semi-finals.

The three winning teams of these games, along with one of the three losers which will have the highest total points in the Championship, will qualify for the League Cup semi-finals, where they will face off after a draw.

The finals of the events will be held on consecutive Saturdays: May 30, 2026 (League Cup) and June 6, 2026 (Cup & Championship).
